Help & Support
Track an order, read the answers to the questions we get most, or talk to a person. Ammunition questions are answered by people who shoot.
Track an order
Guest order lookup is not wired up in this build. Live tracking for every shipment on an order — carrier, tracking number, status and dated estimate, one card per warehouse — is available now from your order history.
Frequently asked questions
35 answers, grouped by what you are trying to do.
Not yet available. Use the section links below, or your browser’s find-on-page — every answer on this page is real text, not loaded on demand.
Ordering
Placing, changing and cancelling an order.
How do I know a cartridge is right for my firearm?
Match the caliber marking on your barrel or slide exactly to the caliber on the listing — .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO are not interchangeable in every rifle, and .38 Special is not .357 Magnum. Every product page shows caliber, grain weight, bullet type and round count, and the variant matrix shows exactly which combination you have selected.
If you are not certain, email us before you order. Ammunition is not returnable for change of mind, so a two-minute question is cheaper than a case of the wrong load.
Can I change or cancel an order after placing it?
Yes, at no cost, at any point before the warehouse dispatches it — use your order history. Once a shipment has been dispatched, that shipment cannot be cancelled. On a split order you can often still cancel the shipments that have not left even after one already has.
Is there a purchase limit?
Per-variant limits appear on the product page where a supplier has set one, usually during an allocation shortage. We also review orders whose quantity is inconsistent with personal use, and we may reduce or cancel them. If a limit is blocking a legitimate bulk or club order, contact us before ordering and we will look at it.
Why did my order get cancelled?
The usual reasons are a stockout between adding to cart and payment, a compliance block on the delivery address, a payment authorisation our processor declined for fraud risk, or a pricing error on the listing. We email the reason within one business day and refund the cancelled portion in full, with no restocking fee. See Terms of Service, section 5.
Shipping & Delivery
What it costs, how it moves, and when it lands.
How much is shipping?
One charge per order, quoted live from your ZIP code at checkout, built from handling, the real billable weight of the goods, and the delivery zone. The minimum is $15.00 and the maximum is $49.99 — above that we absorb the overage. Ammunition is heavy and ships as a hazardous material, so a flat $5 rate is not something anyone in this category can honestly offer.
When is shipping free?
On orders over $600, measured on the pre-tax subtotal after discounts — and on every TAS+ order, with no minimum. The cart shows a progress bar toward the $600 threshold so you can see how close you are.
Can I get overnight or two-day delivery?
Not on ammunition, at any price. Ammunition is classified ORM-D / Limited Quantity and moves ground only — no air, no expedited, no USPS. That is a federal hazardous-materials rule, not a service level we chose. Accessory-only orders are not bound by it.
Does someone have to be home to sign?
Yes. Every ammunition shipment needs an adult signature from someone 21 or older with government-issued photo ID. The carrier will not leave it at the door, with a neighbour, or in a locker, and will not accept a signature waiver. If nobody can be home, use the carrier’s hold-at-location service once tracking is live, or ship to a work address.
Do you ship to PO boxes, APO/FPO addresses, or outside the US?
No to all three for ammunition. PO boxes cannot take ground hazmat or collect a signature; APO/FPO/DPO routes through USPS, and live ammunition is non-mailable; and we do not ship internationally or via freight forwarders. Accessory-only orders can sometimes go to a PO box. Full detail in the Shipping Policy.
My tracking has not updated in two days. Is it lost?
Usually not — ground hazmat parcels can sit between hub scans over a weekend. If there has been no scan for five business days, email us with your order and shipment number and we will chase the carrier. Report a shipment as lost within 14 days of the last scan and damage within 7 days of delivery.
Split Shipments
TAS is a marketplace. One order, several warehouses, one shipping charge.
Why did my order arrive in three boxes on three days?
Because TAS lists stock from several independent suppliers, each running its own warehouse. When your order contains items that live in different warehouses, each warehouse packs and ships its own part of it, with its own tracking number and its own arrival date.
It is ordinary marketplace logistics, not a partial failure. It is also why you can buy the cheapest in-stock offer on a caliber instead of only what one warehouse happens to hold that week.
Am I charged shipping more than once on a split order?
No. You are charged shipping once, on the order. A four-warehouse order costs us four separate outbound fulfilment charges and costs you the same single quoted shipping line as a one-warehouse order of the same weight to the same ZIP. There is never a second shipping charge later.
Can I make everything arrive together?
Sometimes. Where an item can be re-sourced to a warehouse already shipping your order, the cart offers a consolidation nudge showing the price difference before you accept — often a few cents per round. Where an item exists in only one warehouse, it ships from there.
Why did one shipment leave today and another tomorrow?
Every warehouse has its own daily cutoff, from noon Central at Brazos to 4:00 PM Mountain at Sierra. An order placed at 3:45 PM Eastern makes Sierra’s cutoff but misses Cumberland’s, so one part leaves today and the other tomorrow. The cart and the tracking page show the expected dispatch date for each shipment rather than one order-wide promise we cannot keep.
How do I track a split order?
Open the order in your order history. Each shipment is its own card with its own carrier, tracking number, status timeline and dated estimate, and the order header summarises the whole thing — for example, “2 of 3 delivered”.
Returns
What goes back, what does not, and how the money comes home.
Can I return ammunition?
No — not for change of mind. Once loaded ammunition leaves a controlled warehouse we have no way to verify how it was stored, transported or handled, and we will not resell a round whose provenance we cannot vouch for. Several states also prohibit accepting ammunition back from a consumer.
The exceptions are a manufacturing defect or our shipping the wrong item. Both are fixed at our cost, including return shipping.
What about accessories?
Unopened, unused accessories in original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery for any reason. A 10% restocking fee applies to change-of-mind returns and is waived for TAS+ members and for anything defective, damaged or shipped in error. Powder and primers are never returnable.
How do returns work when my order came from several warehouses?
Per shipment. Each shipment goes back to the warehouse that sent it, so you get an RMA number and label per shipment. Pack each shipment’s items separately and match label to box. Each RMA is inspected and refunded as it arrives, so two refunds may land on different days. You never pay more to return a split order.
How long does a refund take?
Roughly 5 to 15 business days end to end: up to 3 business days to inspect the return, 2 business days for us to issue the refund, then 3 to 10 business days for your bank to post it. Refunds always go to the original payment method.
TAS+ Membership
What it costs and what it actually gets you.
What do I get with TAS+?
Free shipping on every order with no minimum, 5% off all ammunition, free returns with no restocking fee, early access to allocation drops, and member-only closeout pricing. Details on the TAS+ page.
How much is it, and is it worth it?
$15.99 a month or $169.99 a year, which saves $21.89 against monthly and works out at $14.17 a month. The arithmetic is simple: shipping starts at $15.00 and climbs with every warehouse your order ships from, so about 12 orders a year covers the annual plan on shipping alone — before the 5% ammunition discount is counted. Buy in bulk from one warehouse and the discount is the bigger half; split your cart across four and the shipping is.
Can I cancel, and does it apply to the order I join on?
Cancel any time from your membership settings; benefits run to the end of the paid period and there is no cancellation fee. Joining at checkout applies the benefits to that same order — free shipping and the 5% ammunition discount are reflected before you pay.
Compliance & Age
Who can buy what, and where we can send it.
How old do I have to be?
18 for rifle, shotgun and rimfire ammunition and for accessories. 21 for handgun ammunition. That follows 18 U.S.C. § 922(b)(1). Cartridges commonly chambered in both handguns and long guns — .22 LR, .223 Remington, .357 Magnum and similar — are treated as handgun ammunition and need 21+. You must be 18 to hold an account at all.
Do you ship to my state?
Enter your ZIP at checkout and we will tell you before you pay. Ammunition delivery is blocked or conditional in a number of jurisdictions, including California, New York, Hawaii, the District of Columbia and most of Alaska, and several states hold an order until a permit or FOID/FID card is verified. The indicative list is on the Compliance & Restrictions page.
What happens if my order is blocked?
The affected lines are cancelled and refunded in full, with no restocking fee and no shipping charge for goods that never shipped. If removing them drops you below the free-shipping threshold, we honour the original quote anyway. Most blocks happen at the address step, before you pay.
Do you require a background check or an FFL?
No. Ammunition sales are federally unlicensed, and TAS does not sell firearms, so no FFL transfer is involved. Some states require you to hold a permit, FOID or eligibility certificate before we can ship, and where that applies we ask for a copy and verify it before dispatch.
I think one of your restriction rules is wrong.
Tell us — we would rather hear it from you than find it in an audit. Email compliance@topammosupply.com with the jurisdiction, the ZIP code, what we show, what you believe is correct, and a citation if you have one. We acknowledge within one business day.
Payments
How you pay, when you are charged, and what we store.
What payment methods do you take?
Major credit and debit cards. Payment is handled by a PCI DSS compliant processor in a hosted field, so TAS never stores your full card number — only a token, the card brand, the last four digits and the expiry. Saving a card saves the token, not the card.
When am I actually charged?
We authorise the full order at checkout and capture as shipments dispatch. On a split order you may see the authorisation as one pending amount and the captures as separate line items on your statement. The total you pay is the total you agreed at checkout.
Why is there a pending charge for an order you cancelled?
An authorisation is a hold, not a charge. When we cancel, we release it — but how quickly it disappears from your statement is your issuer’s decision, typically 3 to 5 business days. No money moves.
Is sales tax included in the price?
No. Prices exclude sales tax, which is calculated at checkout on your delivery address. Some states tax the shipping charge as well as the goods, and a few jurisdictions — Cook County, Illinois among them — add a local ammunition tax.
Account
Sign-in, addresses, saved items and your data.
Do I need an account to order?
You can check out as a guest, but an account is worth having: it keeps your per-shipment tracking in one place, stores your address book and any permit documentation your state requires, and makes returns a two-click job. You must be 18 or older to hold one.
How do I reset my password?
Use the reset link on the sign-in page. The email goes to the address on the account and the link expires in 60 minutes. If you no longer have access to that address, contact support — we will verify you against a recent order before changing anything.
Can I ship to an address that is not my billing address?
Yes, as long as it is a US street address where an adult can sign. Mismatched billing and shipping addresses raise the fraud score slightly, so a first order to a new address may take an extra few hours to clear screening.
How do I get a copy of my data, or delete my account?
Email privacy@topammosupply.com from your account address. We acknowledge within 10 business days and respond within 45. Note that some purchase records must be retained even after account deletion where law requires it — the Privacy Policy sets out exactly which.

Ammunition questions get answered by people who shoot. If you want to know whether a 77gr load will stabilise in a 1:9 twist, what the difference is between a 124gr NATO and a standard 124gr FMJ, or which .308 match load a particular rifle tends to like, ask. You will get an answer from someone who has run it across a chronograph, not a script.
