Pricing, Availability & Order Acceptance

Last updated August 9, 2026

This page explains how prices and stock are shown on TAS, what they do and do not include, and the exact point at which an order you place becomes an order we are bound to fulfil.

Phase 1 note: this document is a structurally complete template. It has not yet been reviewed by counsel and must be before any real sale is made.

1. Prices and what they exclude

All prices on TAS are in United States dollars and are the price for the goods only. Unless a page says otherwise, a displayed price excludes:

  • Sales tax, which is calculated at checkout against your delivery address — see section 8.
  • Shipping and handling, quoted once per order at the delivery step — see section 9.
  • Optional extras such as shipment insurance or a TAS+ membership added during checkout.

The order summary at the review step of checkout shows every one of those lines and the total you will actually be charged. Nothing is added after that screen, and there are no order fees, service fees, handling surcharges or hazmat fees hidden behind it.

TAS is a retailer and the merchant of record on your order. We buy from independent suppliers and sell to you, so the price you see is our price — not a supplier’s asking price with a commission on top, and the charge on your statement comes from TAS.

2. Price per round

Ammunition is sold in boxes, cases and buckets of wildly different counts, so we print a price per round alongside the box price everywhere it is useful, at the same visual weight as the price itself. It is the number this category actually compares on and burying it would be dishonest.

Price per round is a calculated convenience figure. The total price of the item is the price you pay and it governs in every case. Specifically:

  • It is the item price divided by the round count of that variant, nothing more. It excludes tax, shipping and any discount that has not yet been applied.
  • It is rounded for display — to three decimal places below ten cents and to two above — so multiplying the displayed per-round figure by the round count will not always reproduce the box price to the cent. The box price is the true figure.
  • It is calculated per variant, not per parent product. A 1,000-round case and a 50-round box of the same load have different per-round figures, and comparing across round counts is exactly what the number is for.
  • Where a discount applies, the per-round figure shown in the cart reflects the discounted item price. The figure on a product page reflects the list price.

If a per-round figure and a box price ever disagree in a way that is not explained by rounding, treat the box price as correct and tell us — that is a bug, and we want to know.

3. Prices and stock change

Ammunition pricing moves faster than most retail. Component costs, allocation, import conditions, election cycles and plain panic buying can move a caliber’s street price by double digits in a week, and supply into our warehouses moves with it.

Prices, availability, delivery estimates and promotional offers on TAS can change at any time, without notice, until your order is accepted under section 6. That includes items already sitting in your cart or on your saved list. The cart holds a reference to a product, not a reservation of a price.

Two things we will not do with that latitude: we do not raise the price of an order after you have placed it, and we do not use countdown timers, false scarcity or a price that varies by who is looking at it. A price change between your adding an item and your checking out is a real change in what the item costs, and the cart shows you the current price before you pay.

4. How availability works

TAS lists stock from independent suppliers across 6 warehouses. A single variant can be offered by several of them at different prices with different quantities on hand, and the buy box shows the offer that is genuinely in stock and lands cheapest for you. The rest are listed under other sellers, with each supplier’s price, warehouse and arrival date.

Stock counts come from the supplier’s own system. They are as current as we can make them, and they are still a snapshot:

  • Stock is not reserved when you add an item to your cart, or when you begin checkout, or when you save an item for later. Nothing is held for you.
  • Allocation happens at acceptance. Two customers can hold the last case of a load in their carts at the same time. The one whose order is accepted first gets it.
  • A supplier’s count can be wrong. Warehouses miscount, feeds lag, and physical stock walks. Where an accepted order cannot be filled, we tell you within one business day and refund the affected lines in full.
  • Where a variant is available from more than one warehouse, a stockout at one is often re-sourced to another automatically, at the price you were quoted. You will see the change on your order, not on your card.
  • Backorders and pre-orders are labelled as such on the listing, with the date we expect stock. We charge for them on dispatch, the same as everything else, and you can cancel a backordered line at any time before it ships.

Because stock lives in different buildings, one order can ship from up to 6 warehouses and arrive as several deliveries on different days. You are charged one shipping and handling amount on the order regardless of how many warehouses fill it. The Shipping Policy covers this in full.

5. Pricing and listing errors

We build the catalogue carefully and we still get things wrong. Prices, round counts, grain weights, specifications, images and stock figures can all contain errors, whether ours or a supplier’s.

Where an item is listed at an incorrect price or with an incorrect description, TAS reserves the right to refuse or cancel any order placed for that item, whether or not the order has been accepted and whether or not payment has been taken. This applies to obvious errors — a case of match rifle ammunition at $9.99, a decimal in the wrong place, a promotion that stacks in a way it was never meant to.

What that looks like in practice:

  • We contact you at the email on the order, normally within one business day of spotting the error.
  • We offer you the item at the corrected price, or we cancel the affected lines. If we cannot reach you, we cancel rather than charge you a price you did not agree to.
  • Any payment taken for a cancelled line is refunded in full, to the original payment method, with no restocking fee and no shipping charge for goods that never shipped.
  • If cancelling a line drops your order below the free-shipping threshold, we honour the shipping quote you were originally given.

A pricing error is not a promotion, and correcting one is not a price increase — but we will not pretend a genuine, honoured price was an error after the fact. If we accepted your order and dispatched it, the price stands.

6. When an order is accepted

This section is the one that matters legally, so it is written plainly.

  1. Your order is an offer to buy. Placing an order on TAS is you offering to buy the goods at the prices shown. It is not, by itself, a contract.
  2. The confirmation email is an acknowledgement, not an acceptance. The screen you see after checkout and the email that follows confirm that we received your order and are processing it. Neither is our acceptance of it, however they are worded.
  3. Acceptance happens on dispatch. A contract of sale is formed for each item when the warehouse holding it dispatches it and we send you the shipment notification for that item.
  4. On a split order, acceptance is per shipment. If your order ships from three warehouses, three contracts form as three shipments leave, potentially on different days. Lines that never ship were never accepted, and are refunded in full.

Before dispatch we may decline or cancel all or part of an order — for a stockout, a compliance restriction on the delivery address, a failed payment authorisation or fraud screen, a pricing or listing error, a quantity inconsistent with personal use, or where we reasonably believe a sale would be unlawful. We give you the reason in writing, and we refund in full.

Payment is authorised at checkout and captured as shipments dispatch, so on a split order you may see one authorisation and several captures on your statement. The total charged is the total you agreed at checkout.

7. Quantity limits

In a normal market there are no purchase limits. During an allocation or a shortage there sometimes are, and we would rather ration a scarce load across many customers than let three people clear a warehouse in an hour.

  • Per-variant limits appear on the product page where a supplier or TAS has set one, before you add to cart, with the limit stated in rounds or units.
  • Limits can apply per order, per account, per household or per delivery address, and per period. Splitting an order across several accounts or addresses to defeat a limit is a breach of the Terms of Service.
  • We review orders whose quantity is inconsistent with personal use and may reduce or cancel them. That is a compliance position as much as a supply one.
  • Limits can change without notice, including between your adding an item and your checking out.

If a limit is blocking a legitimate bulk purchase — a club, a match, a training operation — contact us before you order and we will look at it properly rather than have the order cancelled by a rule.

8. Sales tax

Prices exclude sales tax. Tax is calculated at checkout on the delivery address, not the billing address, at the combined state and local rate that applies there, and it is shown as its own line in the order summary before you pay.

  • Shipping is taxable in some states and not in others. Where a state taxes delivery charges, tax is calculated on the goods and the shipping and handling amount together. That is the state’s rule, not a TAS charge.
  • Some jurisdictions levy an additional local tax on ammunition on top of ordinary sales tax. Where one applies to your address it appears in the tax line.
  • A handful of states have no sales tax at all. If yours is one, the tax line reads zero.
  • Tax-exempt buyers — dealers, agencies, qualifying organisations — should contact us with their exemption certificate before ordering. We cannot refund tax on an order that has already been placed.

Where an order ships from several warehouses, tax is still calculated once, on the whole order, against your delivery address.

9. Shipping and handling

Shipping is quoted once per order against your delivery ZIP code, from the real weight of the goods and the delivery zone. One order is one shipping and handling charge, however many warehouses fill it. A four-warehouse order does not cost you four times a one-warehouse order, and there is never a second shipping charge later.

  • Orders over $600 ship free, measured on the pre-tax subtotal after discounts. The cart shows how far you are from the threshold.
  • TAS+ members ship free on every order, with no minimum — see section 11.
  • Ammunition is ground-only hazardous freight with an adult signature required, so there is no expedited or air option at any price.

The full method, including the worked example of a three-warehouse order, is in the Shipping Policy.

10. Promotional codes

Promotional codes, sale prices and site-wide offers are subject to the terms published with them and to the following rules, which apply to every offer unless the offer itself says otherwise.

  • One code per order. Promotional codes do not stack with one another.
  • Codes do not apply to shipping and handling, shipment insurance, sales tax, TAS+ membership fees, gift cards, or items already discounted as a clearance or closeout.
  • The discount applies to the goods subtotal and is taken into account when we measure the $600 free-shipping threshold — the threshold is measured after discounts, not before.
  • Codes have an expiry and can be withdrawn at any time. A code must be entered before you place the order; we cannot apply one retrospectively.
  • Codes are for personal use, are not transferable, have no cash value, and cannot be resold. Codes obtained from a coupon aggregator that we never issued will simply not work.
  • If an order is cancelled or returned, we refund what you actually paid. A single-use code consumed on a cancelled order is reinstated where we can reinstate it; tell us if it is not.
  • We may cancel orders where a code has been used in bad faith — bulk account creation, defeating a per-customer limit, or exploiting a stacking error.

11. TAS+ member pricing

TAS+ costs $15.99 a month or $169.99 a year, which saves $21.89 against paying monthly for twelve months. Membership fees are charged in advance, are separate from any order, and are not discountable by a promotional code.

TAS+ pricing and the two benefits that change what you pay at checkout.
Plan or benefitAmountHow it applies
Monthly membership$15.99 per monthBilled in advance, cancel any time, benefits run to the end of the paid period.
Yearly membership$169.99 per yearBilled once a year. Saves $21.89 against twelve monthly charges.
Free shippingNo minimumEvery order ships free, at any subtotal, however many warehouses fill it.
Ammunition discount5% off ammunitionApplied to the price of ammunition items in the cart, before tax and shipping.

How the 5% ammunition discount actually applies:

  • To ammunition only. Accessories, optics, storage, reloading components, targets and range gear are not discounted by membership.
  • In the cart, before tax and shipping, so the discounted subtotal is what tax is calculated on and what the free-shipping threshold would be measured against.
  • It combines with a promotional code unless that promotion says otherwise, and it applies after the code, to the discounted ammunition price. It does not combine with member-only closeout pricing, where the closeout price is already the member price.
  • From the moment the membership is active, including on the order you join with — join at checkout and the discount and free shipping are reflected before you pay.
  • If a membership lapses or is cancelled, member pricing stops applying to new orders from the end of the paid period. Orders already accepted are unaffected.

Everything a membership includes is on the TAS+ page, and billing is managed from your membership settings.

12. We do not price match

TAS does not price match. We do not match a competitor’s advertised price, we do not match our own past price, and we do not refund the difference if a price drops after you buy. There is no exception process, so please do not spend an email asking for one.

The reason is straightforward. Price matching in this category rewards the customer who complains rather than the customer who buys, and it is funded by keeping list prices higher than they need to be so there is room to discount on request. We would rather price the catalogue at the number we mean, show price per round at full weight so it can be compared against anyone, and let the comparison go however it goes.

What we do instead: the buy box shows the cheapest genuinely in-stock offer across our warehouses rather than a preferred supplier’s, and the other offers are shown next to it so you can see we are not hiding a better one.

13. How to contact us

This page sits alongside the Terms of Service, which govern the sale, and the Shipping Policy and Returns & Refunds Policy. Where this page and the Terms of Service conflict, the Terms of Service govern.
