Returns & Refunds

Last updated August 9, 2026

This page sets out what can be returned to TAS, what cannot, why ammunition is treated differently from everything else we sell, and how to start a return.

Phase 1 note: this document is a structurally complete template. It has not yet been reviewed by counsel and must be before any real sale is made.

1. At a glance

Return eligibility by product type.
What you boughtReturn windowCondition

Orders that have not yet been dispatched can be cancelled in full at no cost from your order history.

2. Accessories — 30 days

Unopened, unused accessories in their original packaging may be returned within 30 days of delivery, for any reason or none. That covers optics, mounts, bags, cases, hearing and eye protection, targets, cleaning kits, storage, and reloading equipment.

“Unopened” means the factory seal is intact and the item has not been mounted, zeroed, fitted, or used. An optic that has been on a rifle, a bag that has been to the range, or a case with a cut seal cannot go back into saleable stock and is not returnable unless it is defective.

Not returnable in any circumstance other than defect: smokeless powder, primers, and any pressurised or flammable item, all of which are regulated hazardous materials that we cannot accept back into a warehouse.

3. Ammunition is not returnable

Once loaded ammunition leaves our supplier’s control it cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded for change of mind. The only exceptions are a manufacturing defect or our shipping you the wrong item.

This is not a policy we chose for convenience, and every reputable seller in this category applies it. Two reasons, both real:

  • Safety. Once a case of ammunition has been out of a controlled warehouse we have no way to know how it was stored, transported or handled. It may have been exposed to heat, damp, solvent or impact. It may have been opened, tampered with, partly used, or mixed with handloads that look identical in a tray. Reselling that to the next customer would put a round of unknown provenance in someone else’s chamber, and no restocking process can rule that out by inspection.
  • Law. Accepting ammunition back is a transfer in the other direction. Doing it lawfully would require verifying the sender’s eligibility, meeting hazardous-material shipping rules on the return leg, and satisfying the ammunition-transfer rules of both the sender’s state and ours. Several states prohibit it outright.

So please check the caliber, grain weight, bullet type and round count on the product page before you order. Every listing shows all four, and the variant matrix shows exactly which combination you have selected. If you are unsure whether a load suits your firearm, ask us before you buy — see section 11.

If you have received ammunition you cannot lawfully possess because our restriction data was wrong, do not attempt to send it back yourself. Contact us and we will arrange a compliant collection at our cost and refund you in full.

4. Defective or wrong item

If an item is defective, or we shipped you something other than what you ordered, we fix it at our cost. This applies to ammunition as well as accessories.

Report it within 30 days of delivery with:

  • Your order number and the shipment number.
  • Photographs of the item, the box label, and the lot number printed on the ammunition carton.
  • A description of the fault — squib, failure to fire, split case, inconsistent charge, damaged projectile, wrong caliber, wrong grain weight, wrong count.

Stop using the product immediately and set the remaining rounds aside from the same lot; do not fire them and do not attempt to pull or dispose of them yourself. We will issue a prepaid, compliant return label or arrange collection, and send a replacement or a full refund including the original shipping — your choice.

Manufacturing defects are also covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. We deal with the manufacturer so that you do not have to, and a defect claim is never limited to a store credit.

5. Returns on split orders

Because an order can ship from several warehouses, returns are handled per shipment, not per order. Each shipment goes back to the warehouse that sent it, so each gets its own RMA number and its own return label.

What that means in practice:

  • Returning items from two shipments produces two RMAs and two labels. Pack each shipment’s items separately and put the right label on the right box — items sent to the wrong warehouse slow the refund considerably.
  • Each RMA is inspected and refunded as it arrives, so you may see two refunds land on different days. Both go to the original payment method.
  • You never pay more to return a split order than you would to return the same items from a single warehouse. Where return shipping is on us, it is on us for every label.
  • The order history shows RMA status per shipment, in the same shipment cards used for tracking.

Returning every item on an order refunds the shipping charge in full, even though the goods came from several places. Returning part of an order does not refund shipping, because the shipment still had to move.

6. Who pays return shipping

Return shipping responsibility by reason for return.
Reason for returnWho pays
Defective itemTAS — prepaid label provided
Wrong item shippedTAS — prepaid label provided
Damaged in transitTAS — prepaid label provided
Order blocked for compliance after dispatchTAS — collection arranged at our cost
Change of mind, accessoriesYou — deducted from the refund if you use our label
Change of mind, TAS+ memberTAS — prepaid label provided

You may use your own carrier for a change-of-mind return. Use a tracked service: until the parcel is scanned at the warehouse, the risk of loss is yours.

7. Restocking fee

A 10% restocking fee applies to change-of-mind accessory returns, deducted from the refund. It covers inbound freight, inspection, repackaging and return to stock at the supplier’s warehouse.

There is no restocking fee when:

  • the item is defective;
  • we shipped the wrong item;
  • the item arrived damaged;
  • we cancelled or blocked the order for a compliance reason;
  • you are a TAS+ member.

8. Refund timing

  1. We receive the return and email you the same day it scans in at the warehouse.
  2. Inspection — up to 3 business days. Faster for accessories, longer where a defect claim needs the manufacturer to look at it.
  3. Refund issued to the original payment method within 2 business days of inspection passing.
  4. Your bank posts it — typically 3 to 10 business days after we issue it, entirely on your card issuer’s timetable.

Expect roughly 5 to 15 business days end to end. Refunds always go back to the original payment method; we cannot refund to a different card, and we do not issue store credit unless you ask for it. Cancellations of orders that never dispatched are refunded within 2 business days, and a pending authorisation may drop off your statement sooner than that.

9. TAS+ free returns

TAS+ members return eligible items free. On any return a member is entitled to make, we provide a prepaid return label and waive the 10% restocking fee — including on change-of-mind accessory returns, and including every label on a split order.

Membership does not change what is returnable. Ammunition remains non-returnable for members for exactly the same safety and legal reasons set out in section 3. Members also get free shipping with no minimum, 5% off ammunition, early access to allocation drops, and member-only closeout pricing — see the TAS+ page.

10. How to start an RMA

  1. Open your order history and select the order.
  2. Choose Start a return on the shipment card containing the item. If items came from more than one shipment, repeat this for each — you will get an RMA number per shipment.
  3. Pick the items, give a reason, and upload photographs if you are reporting a defect or damage.
  4. We email the RMA number and, where applicable, a prepaid return label, usually within one business day.
  5. Pack the items in their original packaging, write the RMA number on the outside of the box, and drop it with the carrier within 14 days of the RMA being issued.

Do not send anything back without an RMA number. Unmarked returns cannot be matched to an order, and warehouses will refuse an unlabelled parcel that may contain hazardous material. If you cannot reach your account, email us and we will raise the RMA for you.
